Spread the love

Hi loves, how has your week been. This week’s post is about building confidence and I’m thinking of doing a single series next week. But let’s get right on to today’s post on building your confidence.

Confidence is all about having self assurance and feeling of certainty. When you have confidence in something you trust it. So do you trust yourself? Do you believe in yourself? I hope you do and if you don’t you’re going to at the end of the post. Believe in yourself and love yourself, trust yourself that you are good enough.

Dealing with lack of confidence can stem from a whole lot of different things. You could be lacking confidence due to your financial status, educational background, appearance, fear, insecurities and so on. Whatever reason why you are lacking in the confidence area it is originated from fear and lack of belief in yourself.

10 Things To Do To Boost Your Confidence

ISOLATE YOUR FEAR AND TAKE ACTION: isolate your fear, treat it like the Corona virus, maintain a good distance away from it. Just joking, face it head on. The only way to overcome your fear is to take action. I know it’s not easy, I have a fear of public speaking so I decided to do something about it. Believe me it wasn’t easy when I decided to try it out. I kept on wishing the day would never come and was scared through out the week. Lucky for me the day got postponed till the next week, it didn’t help and just heightened my anxiety. Finally the day came and when it was time to come up on stage I felt like running out of the place, all of a sudden I had a stomach pain and my feets were wobbly. To cut the long story, I did it, I spoke in public holding a microphone, I got over my fear. The feeling of overcoming your fear leaves you joyous, believe me you’d be so happy that you did. So when you are afraid of something face it head on, facing it and overcoming it will build your confidence. If you have anything you’re afraid of, plan well for it and take action. You’d be happy that you did.

KILL NEGATIVE THOUGHTS: you know those thoughts that doesn’t do you any good, kill them with positive thoughts. Stop thinking low about yourself, stop seeing just your flaws, stop dwelling on things that are negative. Once you see your thoughts drifting into the negative realm, run to the positive realm. Kill the negative thoughts, stop belittling yourself, know your worth and value. Also, stay away from toxic people, the type that is constantly belittling you and making you question your worth, they’d only drag you into the realm of negativity and you don’t want that. They would only ruin your self esteem and self confidence and you don’t want that. Don’t see yourself as a failure because the moment you do you become one and that won’t make you feel good about yourself in anyway so don’t even start thinking about it in the first place. Kill your negative thoughts because when you do, you’d begin to see yourself in a new light.

EMBRACE POSITIVITY: Welcome positive thoughts and people with open arms. Think positively, counter every negative thoughts with good thoughts. Instead of feeling down and looking down at yourself. Feel good and think good thoughts. It not only keeps you sane it makes you happy and when you are happy you feel good about yourself and when you feel good about yourself you can exude confidence. Have positive affirmations that you speak to yourself to boost your confidence.

GET TO KNOW YOURSELF: get to know who you are, when you know who you are and you are proud of who you are, you’d see you’d begin to exude confidence. Know your worth, your values, what you stand for, things that make you happy. Get to know yourself better and once you do you’d begin to love yourself and be confident in yourself because you know who you are and your purpose.

CHANGE YOUR BODY LANGUAGE: you can tell if someone is confident with the way they carry themselves. So how do you carry yourself? Do you walk like you’re carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders? Do you appear dejected? Do you conduct yourself in a way that just screams that you lack confidence in yourself? I hope not but if you do, no need to worry. Work on your posture. How do you stand, walk and sit? It’s very easy to slouch I know, I still get carried away and slouch too mostly in the comfort of my room. Anyway work on how you walk, stand and sit especially in public. Work on your facial expressions and mood, you don’t want to be looking grumpy all the time, smile, it attracts people to you. When talking to someone focus on them with your eyes and body. Don’t take your eyes off them to wander around or put one leg in front of the person and the other to the side. Work on your voice too. Don’t be timid, speak with confidence and once you do so you’d appear and feel confident.

PRACTICE SELF CARE: take good care of yourself and love yourself. Feel good about yourself, work on your appearance, when you look good you’d feel good. There’s just something about wearing a nice dress, it would make you feel like a princess, look like one and act like one. Take good care of your body, treat yourself to the spa, get your hair done, practice good hygiene and just give yourself the ultimate treatment. Treat yourself like a queen and you’d begin to feel like one.

HAVE CONFIDENT ROLE MODELS: have role models that you like the way they carry themselves, role models that can help you and shape you to be a better version of you. I personally love Breeny lee and Isabel Palacois, you can check their YouTube channel out and I’m sure you’d love their content.

HAVE AFFIRMATIONS: have words you say to yourself. Speak words of love and life to yourself. Speak into existence. I have a list of affirmations I visit when I start feeling down, you can write yours too. Speak them into existence and you’d begin to believe them to be true. Instead of always saying you are ugly and dumb say you are beautiful and smart once you begin to think and believe in it, you’d start feeling it.

GO OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE: There’s this saying that before anything great must be achieved, your comfort zone must be disturbed. Leave the comfort of your house, work or company. Stop playing it safe, do what you want, take risks. When you do things that you wouldn’t have done you get brave to do more and your confidence in yourself grows.

KNOW YOUR STRENGTHS AND BUILD THEM: work on the things you’re good at, your hobby, skill or passion. Build them, invest in yourself . When you know something really well and you’re passionate about it, you’d be confident to do it or talk about it and if there’s something you don’t know learn it too.

Those are my tips on how to build your confidence and if you can’t do any, fake it till you make it. Practice being confident and looking good. Respect yourself and others and don’t be too confident because then you start to get arrogant and no one likes arrogant people.

I hope this post helped you and you’re going to build your confidence. Let me know how you’ve built your confidence over time and something you are confident in about yourself.

Thanks for reading, have a nice day.
